Coffee ground drip catcher
This station is designed to protect a deck plate full of empty cups passing under a coffee dosing unit. The machine is double-index, meaning that there are alternate deck plates for filters and cups. The dosing unit fills the filters with coffee grounds, the filters later get transferred and sealed to the empty cup. The dosing system had a tendency to accumulate grounds which may fall into empty cups as they pass underneath. This is not ideal because the customer would then experience grounds in the beverage. I designed this station to protect the cups from doser drips between dosing cycles. The cycle time is 0.4 sec.
Tray and vac head detail
Tray was textured to capture grounds. It was also plasma coated for additional surface traction.
